The School of Management and Governance (SMG) is a growing school that strives to hold a leading position in the field of business and social sciences and to do joint education and research with the technical schools of the University of Twente. The school focuses on management, governance, innovation, technology and entrepreneurship. In all these fields, the school provides bachelor, master and professional development programmes. In addition, scientific and applied research is carried out in various branches, such as health care, higher education, banking, and services business. Research is accommodated within the university research institutes: The Institute for Governance Studies (IGS), and the Centre for Telematics and Information Technology (CTIT). The school has approximately 350 staff and 2,200 students.

The School of Management and Governance is looking for an Assistant Professor in International Management. 

Function
You will perform in research, teaching and support projects of the International Management group (which is part of the NIKOS capacity group: www.utwente.nl/nikos.)

Research

  • Focusing on a relevant sub-area of our research programme “Innovation & Entrepreneurship: crossing boundaries” for instance on international business development, international networks & cooperation and emerging economies and high tech entrepreneurship in networks;
  • Carrying out research and publishing international refereed articles;


Teaching

  • Teaching courses at a Bachelor and Master level, mainly for students in Business Administration.
  • Supervising Bachelor and Master theses projects in Business Administration, tracks International Management, and Innovative Entrepreneurship and Business Development as well as other Master theses and Bachelor assignments;
  • Assisting in the preparation, coordination and supervision of international study tour projects.


The balance between teaching and research activities in a standard Assistant Professor-ship position is 60% teaching (including course preparation, grading, evaluations, student contacts, etc) – 40% research. 

Profile
You hold a PhD in a relevant subject (Business Administration, Management, International Management/International Business). You have the potential to publish in international refereed journals, and you pursue an academic career based on high level research processes. You are familiar with qualitative and quantitative research methods, You have teaching experience (teaching certificate), are a team player and open to students of different schools and nationalities. You are fluent in English.

Employment conditions
We offer a challenging position in an inspiring environment. We offer a fulltime contract as an Assistant Professor, initially for two years. After this period the contract may be extended to an indefinite period, subject to review. The salary scale, depending on your experience, extends from € 3195 to a maximum of € 4970 gross per month (on full-time basis), based upon the job profile of Assistant Professor (in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities). In addition, the University of Twente offers attractive fringe benefits.
