Nikkei, serves as a primary business-information source for top corporate executives and decision-makers in Japan. It publishes The Nihon Keizai Shimbun and four other newspapers, with a combined circulation of 4 million. The site is an online version of their newspapers with daily coverage of business news and financial markets.  Subscription (fee) is required for most areas.

It provides international and domestic activities of the commerce through different links. Companies can be sought by region, area of interest, and product/service of interest. It also publishes the links to the local chambers of commerce. (Available in English and Japanese)

Japan: An International Comparison

Japan An International Comparison is a well-respected data book on Japanese social and economic statistics. This is an annual publication. Copies from 1998 to 2007 can be downloaded as a PDF file. It is provided by the Keizai Koho Center (Japan Institute for Social and Economic Affairs).

Also known as IDE, the Institute of Developing Economies provides various reports, which are available in PDF format, as well as symposium summaries and books for sale. Controlled by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, IDE has joined with Japan External Trade Organization. IDE strives for increasing trade and collaboration with the developing world.
