transcript

If you're new to exporting, you may be interested in the Ag Exporter Assistance website (http://www.fas.usda.gov/agx/exporter_assistance.asp), a suite of export training and intelligence tools that can help you start and grow your international trade business.

A service of the United States Department of Agriculture, the e-resource is divided into nine sections including export plan, market research, distribution channels, customers and representatives, and shipping. The export plan segment, for example, provides an cross-border business strategy template that may be downloaded for free, and outlines the key questions that need to be asked and answered as part of any international business strategy. The market research module features a step-by-step guide on how to assess potential markets for your product and gather research on specific countries and leading buyers.

While Ag Exporter Assistance was developed by a US government agency for an agricultural business audience, virtually all of its lessons and information are generic in nature and totally relevant to exporters of all sizes and from all industries from practically anywhere. Easy to read and smartly designed, Ag Exporter Assistance should be required viewing for any business serious about launching an export campaign.
