Lecturer in Marketing - Department of Marketing, Information & Decision Science Posting # 0823036

The Department of Marketing, Information & Decision Science at the Anderson School of Management is seeking to fill the position of Lecturer II or III (dependent on qualifications) in Marketing to begin August 2014.

The position of lecturer is a teaching position with a normal teaching load of 4 classes per semester. Candidates must demonstrate the ability, or potential, for excellent teaching in undergraduate and/or MBA marketing courses including, but not limited to introductory marketing courses. Lecturers are expected to meet and maintain professional qualifications as defined in the Anderson School of Management policy.

The Anderson School of Management policy defines professional qualifications as: significant professional work experience relevant to the teaching assignment during at least 3 of the last 5 years; activities such as professional consulting, continuing professional education; publishing peer-reviewed works may be reasonable substitutes for work experience. The marketing group is a small, cohesive group seeking colleagues who demonstrate a willingness to make a commitment to building and maintaining a strong marketing area within The Anderson School of Management.

The University of New Mexico is located in Albuquerque, a metropolitan area of 900,000 located at the base of the Sandia Mountains, in the Rio Grande valley at an altitude of 5000 feet. The University has a faculty of 3400 serving approximately 29,000 students. Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have completed a graduate degree in marketing or a closely related field by August, 2014.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional experience of at least 3 years of the last 5 years in marketing management positions with evidence of activities such as professional consulting, continuing professional education; or publishing peer-reviewed works which may be reasonable substitutes for work experience.
  • Demonstrated teaching excellence in core and elective courses in Marketing with a minimum of 3 courses taught.
  • Preferred primary teaching interests and capability should be in undergraduate and/or graduate courses in introductory marketing.

  • A well-crafted letter stating interest in and qualifications for the position, elaborating on any relevant areas of emphasis in teaching, and indicating a willingness to make a strong commitment to supporting the academic goals of the marketing area.

  • Two aggregate summaries of instructor evaluations or other evidence of excellence in teaching
