PROFESSOR OF BUSINESS STRATEGY DISCIPLINE OF INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS UNIVERSITY OF SYDNEY BUSINESS SCHOOL

The University of Sydney Business School is regarded as a leading provider of business and management education in the Asia-Pacific region. It is one of the very few Australian schools to hold business and accounting accreditation from AACSB International and holds EQUIS accreditation from the European Foundation for Management Development. It is also the only Australian member school of CEMS, a Global Alliance in Management, enabling it to offer the prestigious CEMS Masters in International Management degree program. The Discipline of International Business comprises a highly regarded group of researchers and teachers in the areas of strategy, entrepreneurship and international business. In the Excellence in Research for Australia 2012 assessment, the quality of research carried out by staff in the discipline was ranked as “well above world standard” – the highest possible level. The discipline teaches into coursework programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate level including contributions to the Global EMBA, MBA, Master of International Business and Master of Management. There is also an honours program and PhD program. The discipline has an active research program and is home to the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Research Group and the Emerging Markets Internationalisation Research Group. The Business School’s Innovation and Change Research Network and China Business Research Network and are also directed by professors from the discipline.

The Business School is seeking to appoint a Professor of Business Strategy to the discipline. The appointee will provide leadership and a collaborative and collegial approach to research and teaching. In doing so, they will conduct individual and joint research; introduce junior staff to research contacts and research networks; and actively participate in, and contribute to, the design and delivery of curriculum. With a PhD in strategy or related field, you will have an outstanding track record of research and teaching in one or more of the major areas of strategic management as well as the ability to develop and maintain strong links with business and industry. You will also have a record of successful PhD supervision. The successful applicant will be offered a continuing appointment. A competitive salary package will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
