Job Description

George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, seeks nominations for and expressions of interest in the position of President of Mason’s branch campus in the Songdo district of Incheon City, South Korea, the first free economic zone in Korea.

As one of four universities from around the world operating out of the new 73-acre Incheon Global Campus (IGC), Mason Korea offers bachelor degrees in Economics, Management, and Global Affairs, with additional bachelor’s and master’s degrees planned in the future. Undergraduate degree candidates spend three years at IGC and one year on George Mason University’s Fairfax campus. They will be joined by annual contingents of the current Fairfax Campus (and possibly other international) students who choose to spend a semester in South Korea. Mason Korea benefits from the extraordinary support from and partnership with the South Korean government, the Incheon Global Campus Foundation, and the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority which have invested significant financial and government resources in the campus. George Mason University’s enterprising spirit, commitment to innovation and global mission are aligned with South Korea’s vision for the IGC which is to create an educational hub in Northeast Asia for universities and research institutions to produce the next generation of world leaders and contribute to the advancement of academia and society worldwide. After five years of planning and development, Mason Korea enrolled its first students in the spring of 2014. George Mason’s leadership and faculty are committed to seeing Mason Korea established as a strategic gateway for the university in Northern Asia and as a key component of its Global Learning Platform as articulated in the University’s new ten-year strategic plan.

The University expects an intense period of growth and development under the visionary and entrepreneurial leadership of a new President.
