Job Description

St. John Fisher College invites applications, expressions of interest, and nominations for an outstanding academic leadership opportunity: Dean of the School of Business.

An independent, liberal arts institution in the Catholic tradition of American higher education, St. John Fisher College emphasizes education for students in both traditional academic disciplines as well as career-oriented fields. The St. John Fisher College School of Business is an accredited member of AACSB International – the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The School of Business, one of the five schools that comprise St. John Fisher College, is considered to be one of the College’s distinctive strengths. The School of Business enrolls approximately 709 undergraduate students majoring in accounting, finance, human resource management, management, or marketing. In addition to the undergraduate degree programs, the School of Business offers an MBA that enrolls approximately 137 students.

The School of Business is strategically expanding its academic programming to provide innovative, quality management education opportunities. Reporting directly to the Provost, the Dean of the School of Business will serve as the chief academic and administrative officer for the School. The Dean will be a dynamic, collaborative and energetic leader who will be responsible for enhancing and invigorating the academic programs, inspiring faculty, staff, and students, and engaging an active advisory council as well as the business community. The Dean will also work with faculty to articulate a shared vision of excellence and be expected to further the mission of the College and School by building collaborations; expanding resources in concert with the advancement office; and strengthening stakeholder connections, including the School’s many business alumni nationally. A distinguished record of scholarship, teaching, and service, as well as progressive leadership experience and an earned doctorate or equivalent terminal degree in business or a related field are required. The ideal candidate will offer evidence of administrative success in higher education, knowledge of professional business practices, an entrepreneurial approach to problem-solving and fundraising, and experience in a leadership role in the AACSB accreditation process.

St. John Fisher College, ranked among the top colleges and universities in the northeast, has a rich history of academic excellence and an outstanding reputation for its commitment to a student-centered educational environment that promotes learning and discovery. St. John Fisher College enrolls nearly 3,900 students in 33 academic majors in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and mathematics, business, nursing, and education, as well as 11 pre-professional programs, nine master’s programs, and three doctoral programs. Located on a beautiful 154-acre park-like campus, the College retains the educational philosophy of the founding Basilian Fathers, whose motto, “Teach me goodness, discipline, and knowledge,” reflects Fisher’s traditions and values today.
