Job Description

The Robert W. Plaster School of Business, Business Administration at Missouri Southern State University is seeking applicants for full-time tenure-track positions at the Assistant/Associate level beginning fall 2017. The School of Business is hiring several Doctoral-qualified faculty as part of our strategy to move towards AACSB accreditation.

Candidates for all full-time faculty positions must demonstrate a strong desire to excel in teaching and provide ongoing support for student success, in and out of the classroom. Online delivery of programs is an important aspect of the MSSU course delivery strategy. Candidates for tenure-track positions must also have an interest in building / maintaining a sustainable program of research, scholarship, and/or creative activity.

The Plaster School of Business (PSB) is seeking qualified individuals to teach a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate management courses for each position:

MANAGEMENT:  Strategic Management, Management Information Systems, Human Resources Management, Training and Development, Employee Compensation, Leadership and Ethics, Strategic Human Resource Management.

INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS & MANAGEMENT:    International Business, Global Management, International Marketing, Strategic Management, Global Supply Chain Management

MARKETING:   Marketing Research, Consumer Behavior, Marketing Strategy and Value Creation.

Academic requirements include an earned doctorate by no later than December 31, 2017 in management, Marketing, International Business, or related field from an accredited institution.  Qualifications to teach effectively in courses and a record of, or strong evidence of potential for, scholarly activity are preferred.  Scholarly activity, student advising, and service are integral parts of these faculty positions.  Demonstrated ability to work with and/or knowledge of diverse populations is preferred.  Related business experience is desirable.  

Duties will include teaching classes at both the undergraduate and graduate level, advising, research, and service activities. Instructional delivery may occur through traditional, on-line, and alternative instructional methods and can take place on the main campus or off site educational locations.  Voluntary summer and winter contracts may be available. 

Finalists must communicate well and successfully complete the interview process, teaching demonstration, and research presentation as judged by the department faculty.  Recommendation for hiring by the majority of the regular, full-time department faculty will be made to the Dean.  Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidates will be required to submit to a background check.   

Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) is a four year liberal arts institution serving nearly 6,000 students. Expanding graduate and undergraduate programs provide faculty with rich opportunities for service and scholarship. Internationally-focused semesters and enriching cultural events in theater, art, music and film create an engaging learning environment for students and citizens of the region. MSSU is located in Joplin, MO, which is considered to be the Crossroads of America, and serves as the commercial hub for the four states area. Joplin is a resilient and vibrant city with a population of over 50,000 serving a metropolitan statistical area of 208,000. There is quick and easy access to Northwest Arkansas, Kansas City, and Tulsa, as well as numerous outdoor activities and attractions throughout the Ozarks.  

The Plaster School of Business (PSB) is accredited by ACBSP and is moving towards AACSB with 25 full-time tenured/tenure track faculty serving approximately 1,000 students. The PSB offers two graduate programs: Master of Accountancy and Master of Science Management. Undergraduate programs include Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management, HR Management, Marketing and International Business. In addition, certificates are available in Entrepreneurship and Management.
