Job Description

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette (https://louisiana.edu) announces the national search for Dean of the B. I. Moody III College of Business Administration. A well-established institution poised for significant growth, the College seeks an experienced, collaborative leader who is student and faculty oriented with a talent for growing programs, enrollment, and research. The Dean reports to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and serves on the Deans' Council, which is the academic leadership team of the university.

The largest of nine universities in the University of Louisiana System, UL-Lafayette is SACS-accredited and Carnegie-classified as High Research Activity. Fall 2016 enrollment of 19,188 is a record in the university’s 115-year history and the third consecutive year of record growth. A cornerstone of the College and the University is the commitment to multiculturalism in all aspects of campus life.

The Search Committee seeks candidates who are action-oriented strategic thinkers with versatile leadership skills, extensive knowledge of current business trends, and a progressive vision for the future. The successful candidate will lead a nationally respected business school (http://business.louisiana.edu) with four academic units: Accounting; Economics and Finance; Management; and Marketing and Hospitality Management.

Enrollment is about 2,300 students with approximately 60 full-time and 20 part-time faculty. AACSB accredited, the College is among the top 5 percent of the world’s 13,000+ business schools and ranks among the top 300 business schools selected by Princeton Review. The Accounting program is among fewer than 200 schools with AACSB accounting accreditation. In February 2016 AACSB reaffirmed UL-Lafayette’s accreditation, commending both the business and accounting programs for their focus on community outreach and student engagement. The Dean is a key player in a thriving, strategically located, pro-business community with a world-class workforce, excellent high-tech infrastructure, and a robust real estate market. Known for its healthy mid-market economy, Lafayette was recognized in 2015 as the fifth best city in the U.S. for job growth and in 2014 as one of the top 20 metro areas in the Best Performing Cities Index (http://www.lafayettetravel.com and http://www.lafayettela.gov). In the heart of Louisiana’s famous Acadiana region, Lafayette is known around the world for its enviable quality of life and a lively year-round arts and recreation calendar.

The review of nominations and applications begins January 26, 2017, and will continue until the position is filled. Submissions must include a letter of interest stating how the candidate's experiences and qualifications align with the required/preferred characteristics and strategic priorities described in the position profile, curriculum vitae, and the names, addresses, telephone numbers, and email addresses of five references for future contact. Please also include a description of your professional relationship with each reference listed. All candidate names will remain confidential, except for those individuals invited to campus interviews. Submit materials electronically to: ULLafayetteDOB@academic-search.com.
