If you are a small business counselor looking to improve your skills as an export and trade advisor, online training certification may be of interest to you. The Export and Trade Counseling Certification Training webpage is a great resource to achieve this goal and is provided by the U.S. Commercial Service of the Department of Commerce. This page offers small business counselors the opportunity to receive certification after viewing several webinars on exporting information and guides.

The training and certification webpage was created in partnership with the Small Business Administration and the Trade Promotion Coordinating Committee. These organizations, along with the U.S. Department of Commerce, have developed a certification system for small business counselors. In order to receive certification, you must pass two tests—an introductory level exam and an intermediate level exam. For more information and resources to pass the tests please visit the Export and Trade Counseling Certification Training page on the Export.gov website. If you pass the exams, your information will be confirmed by the Small Business Administration (SBA) and a certificate will be sent to you by U.S. mail quarterly. It’s important to note that only SBA affiliated small business counselors will receive a certificate.

The participation and completion of this training is a very significant part of the National Export Initiative in its goal to double United States exports and support the creation of many new jobs. Small business counselors play a key role in the international market growth of small businesses and can dramatically help their clients expand their business abroad. Many small businesses around the globe are recognizing the importance of obtaining growth through exports. If you are a small business counselor or just want to learn more about export counseling certification, please visit the Export and Trade Counseling Certification webpage!
