1) FEATURED COUNTRY

Our featured country this month is Turkey.

Turkey is a member of the WTO, NATO, OECD and one of the founding members of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Council. With a secular democracy, it continues to remain stable and powerful just in the middle of a very unstable region and has become a gateway for multinational companies to access central Asia, Russia and Middle East. Turkey has a customs union agreement with the EU, and is a candidate for full membership to the EU. With its proximity to Iraq, Turkey is emerging as a strategic player in the US-Iraq crisis and the US is backing Turkey's acceptance as an EU member.
