2) FEATURED COUNTRY

Our featured country this month is Singapore.

Founded as a British trading colony in 1819, Singapore has since become one of the world's most prosperous countries, with strong international trading links and with per capita GDP above that of the leading nations of Western Europe. In January 2003, Singapore and a coalition of US businesses concluded the US-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (FTA). As it stands now, total American investment in Singapore is $23 billion and U.S. exports to Singapore are $18 billion. The FTA will nurture this trading relationship to bring prosperity to both nations.
