Job Description

Founded on the principles of liberal education, the University of Lethbridge (U of L) is a comprehensive academic and research institution, providing an innovative and interactive environment that facilitates student engagement in learning. Located in the thriving southern Alberta city of Lethbridge, the University is home to more than 8,300 students in undergraduate and graduate programs in education, fine arts, health sciences, humanities, management, sciences, and social sciences. Named 2012 Research University of the Year (undergraduate category) by Research Infosource, the U of L is a major contributor to Alberta’s knowledge-based economy, and is widely recognized for its research excellence in areas as diverse as behavioural neuroscience, global population and economy, and water sustainability.

Home to over 2000 undergraduate students and close to 20 students engaged in the Master of Science in Management degree, the Faculty of Management has grown to become a leader in undergraduate management education in Canada. The Faculty offers a range of academic programming, co-op work placements, research opportunities, an international exchange program, and the option to study at the Lethbridge, Calgary, or Edmonton campuses. The Faculty has created a diverse environment committed to preparing students for the issues that confront business in the 21st century. For more information, visit www.uleth.ca/management.

The Dean will be an inspiring leader, with the skills and vision to establish clear objectives and exciting new initiatives for the Faculty. He/she will possess strong organizational and managerial skills, and have a proven track record of working collaboratively and collegially in pursuit of strategic goals. The Dean will be exceptionally skilled at reaching out to the broader community, and in forming strong and productive partnerships that will help advance the Faculty.

The position is open to all qualified applicants, although preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada. The University is an inclusive and equitable employer encouraging applications from qualified women and men including persons with disabilities, members of visible minorities and First Nation, Métis or Inuit peoples/descent.

Consideration of candidates will begin December 2014, with the new Dean to take office July 2015. Letters of interest, accompanied by a full c.v., may be submitted in confidence to Colleen Keenan or Jason Murray at lethmanagement@odgersberndtson.ca.
