The Entrepreneurship and Business School at Universidad Mayor in Santiago, Chile, invites applications for a full-time position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level.
Candidates should have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. by June, 2015. Assistant Professors with two or three years of experience are also encouraged to apply. We welcome motivated candidates in any field of business or economics. Preference will be given to applicants in the areas of entrepreneurship, technology venture, innovation, international business, corporate social responsibility, corporate governance, strategy and marketing. The school is interested in candidates who will contribute to high-quality research, teaching and service. The school is also interested in individuals who may have had non-traditional career paths or who may have taken time off for family reasons (e.g., children, disabled, or elderly), or who have achieved excellence in careers outside academe (e.g., in professional or industry service).
Candidates will be selected based on academic merits and the strengths of their research agenda. Accepted candidates are expected to independently conduct and publish high-quality academic and policy-relevant research in peer-reviewed journals, as well as to present their work at international conferences. We seek committed individuals with ability to be outstanding scholars and effective teachers. Accepted candidates are expected to undertake research and teaching activities at the undergraduate and graduate level.
The standard teaching load is four courses per year, but it could be less depending on research productivity. Knowledge of Spanish is not required, but we expect successful applicants to be able to teach in Spanish within one year following the appointment. It is also desirable that the candidate has strong skills for teaching MBA courses. The School offers an outstanding research environment and competitive salary, attractive compensation based on publications, and benefits as funds for research assistants and conference travel. The school also hosts regular academic seminars, conferences and other events with the Chilean Association of Entrepreneurs, and collaborates in international research projects of entrepreneurship and policy.
The appointment is expected to begin as soon as March 1, 2015 and no later than July 1st 2015. About the Institution The Entrepreneurship and Business School offers three undergraduate programs (Business, Management and Accounting), an executive MBA, and a Master of Innovation program. Research is conducted in the School by the NEST Research Center (http://www.umayor.cl/facultad-emprendimiento-y-negocios/investigacion/nest/). Faculty members in the NEST Research Center have Ph.D.s from MIT, University of Minnesota, Georgetown University, Rutgers University, Michigan State University, among others.
The School has a full time faculty with expertise in areas such as: marketing, economics, trade, industrial organization, energy, innovation and entrepreneurship. We aim to become a diverse and international institution, and currently several of our full time faculties come from countries other than Chile.
The campus is located in Santiago, district of Providencia, one of the top 5 districts in quality of life in Chile. It has easy connections with all the interest areas of the city, and one metro station at walking distance.
