Guinea-Bissau: Introduction
Guinea-Bissau is a country in West Africa bordering the Northern Atlantic Ocean between Guinea and Senegal. Guinea-Bissau is a low-lying, swampy plateau rising to a savanna in the east. The government system is a republic; the chief of state is the president, and the head of government is the prime minister. Guinea-Bissau has a largely traditional economic system in which most of the economy relies on fishing and farming, and government regulation is widely constrained. Guinea-Bissau is a member of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
