San Marino: Introduction

San Marino is a landlocked country located in Southern Europe. It is an enclave of Italy and Italy is the only bordering country. Situated on the Apennine Mountains, the terrain consists of rugged mountains. The government system is a republic. The chief of state is the Captain and the head of government is the Secretary of State. San Marino has a mixed economic system in which there is a variety of private freedom, combined with centralized economic planning and government regulation.
