The Journal of International Business Studies (JIBS), the premier scholarly outlet for international business research and an official publication of the Academy of International Business (AIB), is pleased to announce a Paper Development Workshop (PDW) in collaboration with Singapore Management University. This event will take place in Singapore and is designed to foster academic growth and research impact in the field of international business, as well as to cultivate a broader community of engaged and impactful IB scholarship in the region
Theme
This PDW is tailored to support scholars in and around the region, especially early career scholars and doctoral students, who are developing manuscripts related to international business. The JIBS-SMU PDW will center on the theme: “International Business, Societal Impact, and Sustainability.” All IB topics are welcome, while implications for societal impact and sustainability would be encouraged. PDW participants will receive personalized feedback from JIBS’s editorial team on the submitted paper.

Submission Guidelines
Interested scholars are invited to submit a completed draft manuscript via the AIB online submission system “2026 JIBS-SMU Paper Development Workshop” (https://meetings.aib.msu.edu/jibs/2026-singapore/).
Key requirements:
Language: English
Length: Under 10,000 words
Format: Must adhere to JIBS formatting and presentation guidelines
Cover Page: Include full names, email addresses, and institutional affiliations of all authors
Originality: Manuscripts must be unpublished and not under review elsewhere
Limit: One submission per participant

Selection
Submissions will be evaluated based on their relevance to JIBS, alignment with the workshop theme, and overall scholarly quality, and follow the vetting process used in selection of papers for the JIBS PDW workshop at the annual AIB conference
