Dean, Georgetown University in Qatar

Georgetown University invites inquiries, nominations and applications for the position of dean of Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q). This is an extraordinary position for a dean who will have the opportunity to shape an emerging institution within a major global research university. The dean is responsible for all aspects of GU-Q including intellectual and academic and administrative leadership for Georgetown's flagship program in Doha, the Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service (B.S.F.S), and other programs. With the support of an experienced and professional staff, the dean oversees faculty and academic and administrative units including Academic Affairs, Academic Services, Center for International & Regional Studies, Communications, Executive and Professional Education, Facilities Management, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Library and Student Development. Externally, the dean of GU-Q is the chief representative of and spokesperson for GU-Q. The dean interacts on a regular basis with the Qatar Foundation, with other partner universities in Doha's Education City, and with local government officials. The dean also represents Georgetown University throughout the region.

The ideal candidate will have substantial leadership experience as a faculty member with an outstanding record of research and teaching, and/or experience in international affairs, with stature and recognition as a leader in the global arena. Deep familiarity with the US academic system is desired. The dean will also have the experience and skills to represent Georgetown University in Qatar and the Gulf region. Familiarity with the culture, opportunities and challenges both of the region and of Georgetown would be highly desirable. Initial screening of applicants will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
