The Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity (DCEO) helps promote Illinois as a global premier business destination and increase economic prosperity by coordination of business recruitment and retention, investment in infrastructure and job training, and administration of grant programs. In addition to providing various Illinois facts and figures, DCEO's site allows users to gain access to business assistance and industry/business phase-specific guides, as well as information and updates on workforce and community development.

The International Trade Association of Greater Chicago provides an Illinois International Business Calendar that lists upcoming international business conferences and other events for Illinois. The calendar of events is also downloadable in PDF.

Supported by Western Illinois University, the Illinois Small Business Development Center provides various business workshops, a business library, and some business services. Services include business counseling, innovations and technology transfer, and management and workforce training. Fees vary and depend on the service being provided.
