Cabo Verde: History

Cabo Verde becomes a Portuguese crown colony. 

Cabo Verde becomes independent and adopts a constitution envisaging unity with Guinea-Bissau, which is later ditched following a coup in Guinea-Bissau in 1980. 

The World Trade Organization approves Cabo Verde's accession to the organization. 

The country requests that the Portuguese version of its name, Cabo Verde, be used as the official country name so that it does not vary by language.

Cabo Verde's economy contracts by about 14.8% as the pandemic leads to declines in tourism and consumption.
