The University of Auckland is New Zealand's leading University and the only New Zealand University to feature in the Time's Higher Education top 200 rankings. Based on the last Performance Based Research Assessment exercise in 2006, the University of Auckland Business School (UABS) has the highest concentration of internationally ranked researchers in business and economics in New Zealand. Recent QS global subject area rankings place the University's Law/Commercial Law at 18; its Accounting and Finance at 33, its Economics/Econometrics at 37, and its Computing /Information Systems at 40. The UABS was the first business school in the country to win accreditation triple crown accreditation (AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA) - an outcome achieved by less than 1% of business schools globally. The School aims to be one of Asia Pacific's foremost business schools, known for the relevance and impact of its research and scholarship, and recognised for the quality of its people, its programmes and its partners. It is one of the largest faculties of its kind in the Australasian region. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate education in business-related disciplines for around 4,900 undergraduate EFTS, approximately 16% of which are international. The School's postgraduate coursework programmes comprise 611 EFTS, half of which are MBA related. In addition, UABS has an active research programme (presently around 148 EFTS) with plans to grow this number. Located in the "state of the art", purpose-built Owen G Glenn Building, the School is ideally positioned as a national hub for academia, business and government. It now impacts well over 12,000 individuals each year through its academic programmes, executive development courses, and the courses and programmes it operates with its partner organisations such as The New Zealand Leadership Institute, The ICEHOUSE and SPARK.

The school is uniquely placed to be able to influence and assist:
- A broad range of participants from start-ups, to owner-managers of SME's, to major corporates;
- Other faculties within the university and the University’s technology transfer office; and
- The establishment of government policy at regional and national levels.

The University of Auckland Business School seeks to appoint a Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The appointee is expected to bring leadership in developing the School's innovation and entrepreneurship curriculum, cross-disciplinary teaching, research and supervision. The appointment would be either to the Department of Management and International Business or to the Graduate School of Enterprise (negotiable depending on "fit"). Irrespective of host Department, the appointee would be expected to play a leadership role in the School's Center for Entrepreneurial Learning (CfEL). CfEL's mission is to design and implement innovative education and research programmes that underpin individual and organisational action and value creation in new and existing industries. It is the anchor point of an entrepreneurial ecosystem that has been built up over a decade and comprises pioneering organisations such as SPARK, Chiasma and The ICEHOUSE. This ecosystem is having a very real impact on the NZ economy. The successful candidate would be expected to engage fully with the various curricular and co-curricular initiatives and be proactive in building and maintaining networks and relationships with industry, entrepreneurs, academics, and government. The successful applicant will develop and lead a research team conducting high quality research in innovation and entrepreneurship in both New Zealand's traditional; SME dominated industries as well as newer knowledge-intensive ones. Through their own work or through the leadership of the team the applicant will produce and disseminate results which cross disciplinary and institutional boundaries to facilitate development of New Zealand's traditional and technology/knowledge-based high growth enterprises.

The Department The Department of Management and International Business (MIB) is one of the largest and most diversified in Australasia, with approximately 1,155 EFTS enrolled in undergraduate, executive, and postgraduate programmes. The Department has a vibrant research and postgraduate culture - with research clusters in International Business, Leadership, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Work and Employment, Maori Development, Organizational Studies. The Department is home to the Mira Szászy Research Centre for Maori and Pacific Business Development, and has very strong links to The New Zealand Leadership Institute, The New Zealand Asia Institute and centres of excellence in Bioscience and ICT. The Graduate School of Enterprise As an integral unit of The University of Auckland Business School, the Graduate School of Enterprise (GSE) prepares executive decision makers to think at advanced levels and then challenges them to apply such advanced thinking. It does so through its MBA, Master of Management, and Postgraduate Diploma in Business programmes, Short Courses and Executive Development initiatives. The programmes offered incorporate strong links with business, industry, not-for-profit and professional organisations. The purpose of the Graduate School of Enterprise is to build a bridge to a better world by developing graduates, knowledge and ideas that enhance the growth, productivity and global competitiveness of New Zealand Enterprises.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants should have:
- A PhD degree in entrepreneurship or a related discipline
- An excellent track record in teaching and research in multidisciplinary programmes
- Experience with applied, collaborative research and a proven ability to publish in high quality journals, both academic and practitioner-oriented
- The interpersonal and negotiation skills to bridge disciplinary, institutional and faculty boundaries in pursuit of the School and the CfEL's objectives - The ability to inspire and motivate the next generation of "wealth-creators" and the communication and networking skills to relate to and grow the regional ecosystem surrounding them.
