Windesheim University of Applied Sciences is a regional centre of expertise with over 21,000 students, thousands of course participants and more than 2,000 members of staff. Windesheim focuses on sustainable educational innovation, professional development of students and knowledge development of businesses and organizations. Education and research are organized in five divisions, one of which is the Business, Media and Law Division. The division has an administration office, twelve study departments and the research centres of Strategic Entrepreneurship and Media, which accommodate the professorships.

Professorship of International Business
The Professorship of International Business was recently started as part of the Strategic Entrepreneurship Research Centre. The professorship is headed by the professor of International Business and consists of a research group of (lecturer-)researchers. The professorship’s research programme is called International Business and Diplomacy in the New Economic World Order. Key words in this research programme are: economic and commercial diplomacy, public-private interaction in international business, international business diplomacy, international business-government relations.

The Professorship of International Business  is looking for an Associate Professor (0.7 fte). This concerns a temporary position for two years, with no prospect of tenure.

The Position
As an Associate Professor of International Business your duties will include:

  • acquisition, supervision and performance of cutting edge research that scores high on relevance
  • Publishing research in relevant and qualitatively sound international and national scientific and practice-oriented media.
  • Teaching International Business.
  • Coaching and supervision of junior researchers and final-project students.
  • Organization of research impact activities, e.g. seminars, workshops.

What we are asking
We are looking for a qualified researcher holding a doctoral degree in the area of (international) Business Management Studies or a related field, with:

  • Strong affinity with commercial diplomacy & international business, international business diplomacy,  international business & government relations, as evident from relevant publications (and  experience).
  • Relevant publications in international scientific journals and books.
  • A relevant national and international research network.
  • Strong affinity with relevance in research.
  • Experience with national and European tenders for research grants.
  • Coaching and research supervision skills and experience.
  • Teaching experience in International Business.

What we also need

  • Experience and strong affinity with higher professional education and the capacity to inspire lecturers and students to become involved in research.
  • Educational and organizational competences to link research to education and professional practice.
  • Published research results and publications in scientific and specialist literature and experience with publicity through other media channels.
  • Competence to acquire (research) commissions, subsidy and funding.
  • A team worker focusing on output and results.
  • A communicator who is able to translate scientific research into practical terms and – vice versa – practical issues into scientific research.

The position qualifies as Head Lecturer (Hogeschoolhoofddocent) B according to Windesheim’s functional profile system. Depending on your previous education and relevant professional work experience, your salary in a full-time position will be a maximum of € 5,916.70  (based on salary scale 14 of the Collective Labour Agreement for Universities of Applied Sciences).
