The Department of Management and International Business is one of the largest and most diversified in Australasia, with approximately 1100 equivalent FT students enrolled in undergraduate, postgraduate and executive programmes. Located in the new purpose-built Owen G. Glenn Building, the Department has a vibrant research and postgraduate culture with research clusters in International Business; HRM; Employment and Organization Studies; Leadership; Innovation and Entrepreneurship; Maori Business Development; and Business and Society. The Department is home to the Mira Szászy Research Centre for Maori and Pacific Business Development, The New Zealand Leadership Institute, and has strong links to The ICEHOUSE (International Centre for Entrepreneurship), The Europe Institute, The New Zealand Asia Institute and national centres of excellence in bioscience and ICT. Position Overview: The duties of your role within the department would include teaching, research, and service, consistent with the Grades, Standards and Criteria for academic staff and attendant expectations at rank-specific levels
Essential • Earned doctorate in Strategic Management-related field e.g.Strategy,Innovation • Management or similar from an internationally accredited university • Rank-appropriate publication record, including articles in highly-ranked journals • Exemplary teaching record at the professional postgraduate (MBA and equivalent) level and demonstrated effectiveness in delivering executive education programmes; appropriate to mature and professional learning partners • Record of research and teaching collaborations with more-junior staff and/or students • Record of mentorship and/or coaching of junior staff and student • Record of successful supervision of research students at the Masters and PhD levels • Demonstrated regard for academic values and the ability to work collegially and effectively with fellow academic and general staff.
Highly Desirable • Secondary knowledge base in one or more fields related to the Department's areas of : competency (e.g. Entrepreneurship, Innovation, International Business, Leadership) • Commitment to and demonstrated mastery of so-called case-method pedagogy • Capacity to teach effectively to a high standard at the undergraduate level • Significant authoring and editorial experience with management teaching cases • Established links with, and demonstrated commitment to the NZ business community • Record of effective grantsmanship from government and/or the private sector.
Please note that for appointment to Associate Professor level, particularly high standards across teaching, research and service are required. An international profile and evidence of disciplinary leadership will be expected at this level. Applications close 09 August 2010.
