The College’s three departments offer undergraduate degrees in accounting, management information system, management, marketing and sports and entertainment management. In addition, it is the only HBCU to offer a fully on-line degree in management.
Reporting directly to the Provost, the Dean, College of Business will serve as the chief academic and administrative officer for the College. The Dean will be a dynamic, collaborative and energetic leader who will be responsible for enhancing and invigorating the academic programs, inspiring faculty, staff and students, as well as engaging the Baltimore business community. The Dean will also work with faculty to articulate a shared vision of excellence and be expected to further the mission of the University and College by building collaborations; expanding resources in concert with the advancement office; and strengthening stakeholder connections.
A distinguished record of scholarship, teaching and service, as well as progressive leadership experience and an earned doctorate in business or a related field are required. The ideal candidate will offer evidence of administrative success in higher education, knowledge of professional business practices and an entrepreneurial approach to problem-solving and fundraising. Nestled in the heart of west Baltimore, Coppin State University was founded in 1900 as a training institute for African-American elementary school teachers and is named in honor of born slave and college graduate, Fanny Jackson Coppin. Today, this 118-year old institution is an urban, residential liberal arts university that provides academic programs in healthcare, education, nursing, business, criminal justice, social and behavioral sciences, and in STEM disciplines through its four colleges -- the College of Business, College of Arts & Sciences and Education, College of Behavioral and Social Science and the College of Health Professions. The university offers 53 majors, 12 graduate degree programs and 4 certificate programs.
